When I was younger I always wished I could experience being a waitress at least once before heading onto my actual career. And years later, I am whole-heartedly grateful that I was able to complete this experience because:
1) Once I start my career, I’ll never be able to go back to fun, basic, minimum wage jobs.
2) It has made me a better customer, and definitely a better tipper.
3) In a sense I feel more cultured by working as a student. It brought a different dimension into my typical school schedule.
4) Shedding blood and sweat every Friday night to please hungry strangers is oddly satisfying at the end of the night. Especially when you walk away with a hundred bucks. hehe
Yesterday marked my last day working as a server at Kabuki. I would definitely say its a bittersweet goodbye, but bearing more on the sweet side. I say this because I feel burnt out from working two jobs & having a full load of classes. Although I would ideally like to keep working as a server, I just need a break. I originally didn’t want to let go because I was too proud and obsessed with being overly busy. But for next quarter I think it’s time to chill out and focus on other important things.
